      What's a banana got to do with crochet??

My name is Heather, but many know me as Thesillybanana. And it just so happens that this banana LOVES to crochet.

I picked up the nickname "thesillybanana" my freshman year of college. As you might have guess, it really stuck! I had no idea when I used it for my email that it would still be with me in such a big way.

A few years ago I was looking for a hat and scarf to wear on a trip I was taking to Illinois.

I love all things BRIGHT and COLORFUL. Sadly at the time there were so few options available I was stuck with something bland and boring. Later that year I was looking for a bright colorful blanket for my king size bed and ran into the same problem. This got me scouring the internet for colorful blankets and it seemed that something custom made was really my best and only option. At some point in my search I decided maybe I should learn to make my own.

After I made my first finished crochet item I was quite literally "hooked"! Granted to everyone else it likely looked like a poorly made craft item, but I was excited! It's as if I could see the future and everything learning crochet would eventually mean to me.

Since it's my very first blog post ever I'll keep it short and end it here. This blog will be where I share a little bit about myself, and a LOT about my love of crochet, including projects, tips&tricks, finished pieces, and yarn goodness.
